Breathe Deep

Unlocking Your Breath

You're breathing wrong. Hate to be the one to tell you. I know, I know, you've been alive your whole life and the breath thing has not been a problem for the most part. If you can answer "Yes" to these three questions, than you're not breathing to your full potential, and it's easier to change than you think:

1) Do you breath through your nose primarily? (This includes walking up steps, watching TV, mowing the lawn, times when your mind may wander, etc.)

2) Do you find yourself "catching up" your breath when sitting or doing mindless activates such as scrolling?

3) When taking a big breath in, do you "flair" your neck and nostrils? Place your thumb and index finger where your throat meets your chest and take a big breath in (nasal or mouth, your choice), do you feel two muscles bumping up against your finger and thumb? If you took a nasal breath, did you feel the tips of your nostrils go out?

The average adult has a total lung capacity of approximately 6 liters, yet a normal resting breath moves only about 500 milliliters—roughly 8–10% of total lung capacity.

If you answered "yes" to any of these, you may be not breathing to your full potential. Your breath regulates much of what your body feels and responds to. We take the mysticism out of breathing techniques and offer practical, straight forward approaches to help you get results daily, without altering your routine.
